The Scottish Waste Awareness Group (SWAG) was set up in 2000 with the remit of changing public attitudes and behaviour towards waste.
One of SWAG's key aims is to deliver the Waste Aware Scotland campaign.* The programme aims to raise awareness of, and change public attitudes and behaviour towards reduce, reuse and recycle.
To help specific sectors become more waste aware, SWAG has developed a number of national waste aware tools, including the Waste Aware Campus website. The Waste Aware Campus website is funded by the Scottish Government and has also been endorsed by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC). In order to ensure that the website and tools have been developed with the end-user in mind, SWAG has worked closely with both campuses and the waste management industry whilst developing the website.
The Scottish Government has also launched the It's Our Future campaign, which aims to encourage more people, to think now about the steps we can all take to live within our environmental means. You can find out more about this campaign here.
The Waste Aware Campus campaign is funded by the Scottish Government, as part of their commitment to a Greener Scotland. To find out more, or to pledge your support, please visit www.itsourfuture.co.uk.
